Bathrooms That Make an Impact!
One of my favorite rooms to design for a project is a bathroom. Often, I have four in one project! And I like them all, each with its unique personality. From the luxuries of a master bath to the function and fun of a kid's bath to a bit of drama in a powder room, it's fun to make an impact in these spaces. Here are a few tips I have learned when creating usable, beautiful bathrooms:
Cabinets are essential – I am a fan of timeless cabinets with the addition of design elements like tile and fixtures. I typically set my cabinets in the master higher than other bath cabinet heights. It adds elegance and ease for homeowners.
Muted colors in your master are timeless – I often think of how vital this space is for the homeowners. It should be the calm in the storm of life. Private and tranquil.
Choose your bathroom fixtures wisely – don't skimp on toilets, faucets, or bathtubs. They are going to get a lot of use over the years!
Solid surface countertops are a must – just say no to grout on your countertops. You will never regret it!
Your tile doesn't need to be expensive to look great – a white subway tile is an easy way to make a bathroom look clean and fresh inexpensively. You can also set an inexpensive tile in an interesting pattern, and it is an instant design element. And remember that tile is not just for showers and floors. Try it on a wall.
Don't make the kids bath too juvenile – they grow up fast, as we know. Let the art, towels, and accessories do the work.
And, remember, white never goes out of style!
