Phinney Ridge Primary Bathroom
This beautiful home located in the Phinney Ridge neighborhood of Seattle has four bathrooms which are always great fun for me. I never tire of designing bathrooms. The primary bath in this project was no different. However, after reviewing the plan from my architect I realized it wasn’t quite right. The layout needed work. So, I poured over it for days and finally found the perfect solution for the space providing an equal amount of function and fabulous!
The most exciting part of rearranging this bathroom is that now it lent itself to creating a space I had always wanted to design – a wet room! A wet room allows the shower and bath area to be shared, maximizing space and adding a beautiful design element. I have been noticing this concept more often in my travels and throughout endless hours on Pinterest. What fun to bring this concept to life!
These are the things I love most about this space:
Wet Room: As I mentioned, this is a wet zone within a bathroom that allows the shower and tub to come together in a shared wet space. It is often open and airy and easily accommodating a window without the worry of leaking. It can be a showstopper.
Tile: I love the floor tile in this bathroom. Initially, I sourced it from a tile company I work with often but was surprised to stumble into it at Home Depot when we came up a little bit short at installation. A beautiful marble mix with a picket design makes it feel elegant and timeless.
I also love the white tile that wraps a large part of this bathroom. I know that the extra tile feels like a pricey decision, but the impact is worth every penny. It doesn’t have to break your budget if you choose your tile wisely.
Not Mixing Metals: The current trend is mixing metals in bathrooms, kitchens, and laundry rooms. Actually, anywhere and everywhere! However, I love that I went with just polished nickel. It feels classic and stylish but keeps all the energy on the fixtures, not the finishes. That said, I think I did mix metals in every other bathroom in this home. I like doing both to keep a home fresh and fun.
Tub: Just one on my favs! Clean lines and such a beauty!
Heated Floors: If you can add this when building or remodeling – do it! It's not crazy expensive and something you will enjoy daily. I promise you will never say, “I wish we didn’t do that!”
Color: I love these gray cabinets and how the matching tile makes it all feel very intentional. My favorite gray paint colors for cabinets are Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter, Benjamin Moore Coventry Gray, Sherwin Williams Repose Gray, Benjamin Moore Gray Owl, Benjamin Moore Chelsea Gray.
And that’s a wrap on this beauty! I just finished two more bathrooms at my 80’s Remodel Project as well as three more beautiful bathrooms in this home so, look for those in the coming weeks.
