The Inverness Project is Happening!
We are on a roll now more than ever! First, we had to settle into the Inverness property for six months. (This is a project we are living in while updating.) And now, we are finally starting our transformation of this large, dated lake-view residence into a beautiful coastal modern home.
For starters, this exterior makeover has been outstanding. With the addition of gables where the roofline heavily slopped, we added more dimension to the property. We removed all the skylights and exchanged out the heavy shake for an architectural-grade composite shingle roof.
And do not even get me started on our beautiful new front door! I'm sure everyone will agree that it's one of the best additions to the house thus far. It took this house exterior from nineties blah to Coastal Modern house with that change alone!
There is a lot to tackle on the main floor, so we began with a few smaller projects, starting inside with the entry. Talk about a dated staircase! With a simple modification of changing the railings to black iron, we transformed the entry and with a trio of custom pendants that are on their way, we will definitely take this to another level.
Also at the front, a sad '80s powder room has become an elegant half bath that is a favorite of mine with its navy grasscloth wallpaper and integrated marble vanity.
Next up was the kid's bath. We tiled the floor with a fun striped penny tile and installed a cool trough sink. These are both fresh updates that we know any future owner will love.
As for the two main floor bedrooms, we are currently using these rooms as offices. So, we are still holding out on revealing this project as I have some more finishing touches. Soon they will be transitioned into the sweetest bedrooms for the next family with fresh new doors, trim, custom closets, ceiling modifications, wall treatments, and beautiful hardwood floors. I think you will see it will be well worth the wait!
One of the things I can reveal is the major upgrade to our formal living space. We raised the sunken floor – yes, we did that! We added new windows and doors, a gas insert, and the best ceiling treatment complete with a wagon wheel chandelier. I cannot wait to share all the details on this part of our project with all the sources. (Of course!)
Lastly, we made a fabulous new home gym. This was so much fun to create, and I cannot tell you how much we enjoy having a dedicated space to get fit at home! The accent wall turned out beautifully. It is so good! Including incorporating the largest one-piece mirror we could find. I will get out all the details on what went into making this wall so you can create it in your home. Even without the mirror, this wall would be fabulous in any room.
I plan to eventually share each of these spaces individually so we can really dig into the details. But for now, get ready for lots more inspo for your home. Cheers to making old houses new again. It is truly the best.
Happy remodeling!
